Above: Canucks Coach Dean Evason has total team buy-in. The rebuild that began last year in Vancouver was supposed to be a prelude to a top 3 draft pick in the 2025 PFHL Entry Draft, and after that wonderful selection, GM Sanderson would be making strategic free agent acquisitions, and the 2025-2026 season would be a return to form for the Season 2 Stanley Cup Champs, with a multi-decade dynasty to follow. Dean Evason doesn't have time for that. The Canucks currently sit 3rd in the Pacific with 21 points and a 0.583 win percentage. Keep in mind they are only 2 points ahead of the 13th spot in the West, but the fact they are in the hunt is a testament to Evason's work with the team. Vancouver has allowed only 3.28 goals against per game, good for 5th in the league. The team sits 7th for hits, and has gotten goals from all but 2 of the team's regulars. "Coach Deaner" as he is referred to in the dressing room, has the Canucks playing a violent and aggressive brand of hockey, some might even call it old-school hockey, and the buy in is from every player in the lineup. When asked about the team's goal scoring deficiency, and lack of special teams success on ice, Evason was dismissive, mentioning something about Lemonade from Lemons, not chardonnay from grapes..... Questions remain if the Canucks can hold up this early season "success", especially with rumours swirling around the club that #1 netminder Calvin Peterson may be moved soon, as the team has had contact with several other squads to discuss his availability. If Peterson goes, things could go south for this team, but will Evason be blamed for that as well? Regardless of the future, if the team awards were held today, Coach Dean Evason might be the top vote-getter fpr MVP.
