Hey there sportfans I'm your know it all Mike Knowlittle here once again having a look at our beloved Red Wings. Who have suprisingly gotten of to a good start of the season sitting 3rd in the atlantic division after a 8-3-1 start 12 games into the season.
Will this hold? Well lets have a look at some different things around the team. We will start with the most obvious stats, goals for and against, how do they stand against eachother. Well very good as it seems, Red Wings stands 4th in the league on goals forward with an impressive avarage 4.50 goals per game and in goals against they are 5th with a good 3.00 avarage. Suprisingly most goals scored are 5vs5 as the special teams PP is down on the bottom half in the league rankings with a poor 22.92% PP placing them on 17th place, but the bad PP is countered with one of the top PK's in the league holding 2nd place just behind the New York Rangers holding a strong 84.38% PK.
So far so good, but now we are starting to see cracks in the castle, in shots for the "impressive" offensive is seen through another glass so to speak as they are only shooting 28.58 shots per game in avarage, placing them 4th from last in the league and the good defensive game is not as defensive as they are letting 34.08 shots against per game and this are worring numbers as of right now they seem to be relying on the Vasi Wall in net to keep the pucks out, and so far he has been his stellar self, holding a league top 91.5% SvPCT but if he falters what happens to the team then? Will the house of card fall apart then as one says or will the team defensive game improve as the players realize that they can rely on the Vasi Wall at all times? Because he will not be top notch all season, noone is.
Offensivly the team is lead by star winger Nikita Kucherov with his 20 (11+9) points in 12 games, followed by fellow 1st liner David Pastranak with 17 (9+8) points and third is the 1st line center Broke Nelson with 16 (4+12) points, so from this we can see that 24 of the teams 54 goals scored are all from the first line, if they drop their game who will pick it up? Well the 2nd line are producing with 12 goals together, but will it be enough to hold the boat aflote as one say? That remians to be seen, but it's painfully apparent that if a team are able to neutralize the 1st line, they have a great edge as outside of them the Red Wings are rater toothless.
Well that was all for this time, I as always am Mike Knowlittle have a good one folks!
