The Carolina Hurricanes enter the 2024-2025 PFHL season pretty much in the same state as the previous season. Expectations are that the team continues to show improvement. Maybe even find themselves fighting for that final playoff spot, while waiting for some of their young prospects including Logan Cooley,Dylan Guenther and Simon Edvinsson to join the team next season.
Last season this team could not get a save, and to add to that the injury bug that hit the roster the 2nd half of the year. Rookie Dman Braden Schneider (42pts,18 Gs) missed the final 20 games of the regular season while other bodies rotated in and out of the lineup due to injuries on what seemed like a daily basis.
This past offseason saw the team name Dylan Cozens as their captain. In his rookie season last year Cozens led his team in scoring with 77 pts. Fellow rookie and linemate Alexis LaFreniere chipped in 59 pts, 29 of those being goals and veteran Gustav Nyqvist down the RW had 68 points.
The organization made it a top priority this past offseason to bring in someone who could play on the Hurricanes top line on the right side along Cozens and LaFreniere. Signing a 4 year deal was Anthony Beauvillier who brings a strong 2 way game and is capable of playing all 3 forward positions. The team's top 9 is the strongest its been. The 2nd line should be slightly better, but the biggest improvement is Carolina's 3rd line, which may be 1 of the best in the league with Robby Fabbri,Christian Fischer and Ivan Barbashev.
The team also wanted to improve it's top 4 on the backend. Jonas Brodin signed with the Hurricanes to the tune of a 4 year deal. Brodin should really help out the Carolina PK.
.......damn, injury bug has carried over to this season with a key injury down on the farm to start the year
