Montreal – This and That ..
• Montreal has named its Captains. Nick Suzuki will again be captain with Matthew Tzachuk and John Carlson named the alternates
On the farm John Ludvig will wear the C while Luke Hughes and Logan Brown don the A’s
• Montreal will carry 3 goalies on the pro team, with cap space and roster space GM Todd Snider isn’t risking one of them being swiped up off waivers
• Ben Chiarot will join the pro-squad as 7th Defenseman. GM Snider said it was no brainer to take him on, which included a future 1st round pick and prospect Jack Berglund for cash.
• Brett Kulak cleared waivers and will report to Laval after Chiarot acquisition and will serve as depth in case of injuries on Pro -Roster
• Coach Dave Lowry has named Nico Daws as his starter for Wednesday game against the Leafs
• New Coach Kris Knoblauch of Laval Rocket hasn’t named his starter but is leaning towards rookie Jakub Dobes who had a good pre-season for the rocket
• 17 of the 23 players on pro -roster are either RFAs or UFAs at seasons end. It will be interesting to see how many will be with the team after the trade deadline this year.
• GM Snider traded for D-man John Carlson to improve the clubs Powerplay that ranked 20th last season as well as be the #1 defenceman the team was lacking. Will the 34 year old D-Man be able to fill that roll till Luke Hughes is able to assume that position?
• Jesse Ylonen has made the Pro-Squad out of camp, some suggest he’ll push Alex Killorn to 13th man status or even out of Montreal all together.
• The Habs missed the playoffs by one point last year. GM Snider says that this year will be the year the make their playoff debut.
• Montreal’s cap will be around 74 million on opening night. Room to make addition moves if needed.
