Ducks 2024/25 Pre-Season Report
As expected, Anaheim Ducks GM Felts was quiet this offseason. He did very little, with the most substantial move being claiming 3 players day one of waivers, losing one immediately to a subsequent waiver claim.
Felts could have made some big moves to try to take a serious run at the cup, or at least a deep playoff run. However, looming contract negotiations have put any significant roster moves on hold. Instead, Felts shored up the depth in his organization by adding veterans that will most likely play in minors for the duration of the season but could play up in the parent club should the need arise due to injuries or if Felts decides to unload some assets.
Notable roster changes from the 2023/24 season:
Subtracts
Sammy Blais, out
Josh Archibald, sent to minors
Simon Benoit, sent to minors
Adds
Connor Dewar, promoted from San Diego
Tanner Jeannot, claimed off waivers
San Diego Gulls players to watch:
Jackson LaCombe, D
Rookie LaCombe will play big minutes in the minors, and GM Felts will be paying close attention to his development. Felts may even call him up during the playoffs to bolster his bottom D pair.
Henry Thrun, D
Another Rookie defensemen for the Anaheim Ducks that is expected to play big minutes in the minors. He will most likely take a couple of years to make the big club, but his development will be crucial to the Duck’s future D-core.
Bo Groulx, C
Center Groulx took big strides last season, and nearly earned himself a spot on the parent club. He is likely to be called up if any Ducks centers are injured or traded, otherwise he will be a key player for the San Diego Gulls this season.
