The Vancouver Canucks, first of all, would like to thank Darryl Sutter for his 3 years behind the bench. He had a wonderful first 2 seasons, winning the cup in his second season, but the team was a disaster under his tuteledge last year, and the writing was on the wall when the Canucks missed the playoffs for the first time in PFHL history.
Going into the off-season without a coach, the Canucks decided to go after somebody that they believe can help guide the team's young core, the great veterans, and of course help them transition into a winning team in the future.
Enter Dean Evason.
Dean was NOT hired because of his basement level minimum coach contract, and he was also not hired because of his previous coaching record. He was hired for one reason, and one reason alone....
The Stare of Death.
I imagine we will see it plenty for this next season or two before it begins to turn the Canucks into a Stanley Cup winning Dynasty.
