HOW TO OFFER SHEET AN RFA:
1 - Click on the qualified player's thread.
2 - Check what MRS is for that player's OV level (see below, NOTE: Goalies are different than skaters and their MRS is below the Skater's MRS)
3 - Reply to the thread with the following wording: "(YOUR TEAM) offers (PLAYER) ($X salary) for (X years)"
4 - DOUBLE CHECK that your offer is EQUAL TO, OR GREATER THAN MRS!!!! NO SIGNING BONUSES.
5 - DOUBLE CHECK that your organization has the exact compensation of IT'S OWN PICKS for the amount being offered.
6 - Submit your reply.
7 - Invalid offers will be deleted without notice. Multiple invalid offers may incur disciplinary action.
FROM THE RULEBOOK:
34 - RFA QUALIFICATION PERIOD:
RFA Qualification period happens in the offseason after the playoffs have ended, but before Unrestricted Free Agency bidding begins. During the RFA qualification period, many GM's will choose to qualify their RFA's to maintain control of them. When they do this, they are asserting their ownership over that player's rights, while allowing them to test the market for a higher salary. While testing the market, we will allow teams to make offers on eligible RFAs.
If you plan on making an offer, you must first have the appropriate compensation available, as shown in the table below. If you have the compensation available, then you may offer a contract to the RFA. The team that has qualified the RFA will have a limited time, usually a few days to a week, to decide to match your offer, or decline to match.
If the offer is matched, then the player will stay with his original team, and now have the new salary that was just offered with the original team choosing the term.
If the team declines to match the offer, the player will be awarded the new contract, but will switch to the offering team. The offering team will now give the compensation from the table over to the team that used to own the players rights.
DEEP THOUGHTS: I had a dream that I made an RFA offer, and then woke up without friends and a big bruise on my shoulder.......
The chart below will be used to determine compensation amounts for when a team declines to match an RFA offer on one of their players. It is IMPORTANT to note that all picks offered must be the original picks of the team, and they must be in the nearest draft year, or in some cases, the nearest draft yearsS.
SEASON 4 LANGUAGE: (2024 off-season)
Salary offered - Compensation required
$1 - $1.349999mil - NO COMP - Max 1 per club
$1.35mil - $1.999999mil - 1x3rd
$2mil - $3.999999mil - 1x2nd
$4mil - $5.999999mil - 1x1st, 1x3rd
$6mil - $8.249999mil - 1x1st, 1x2nd, 1x3rd
$8.25mil - $10.249999mil - 2x1st, 1x2nd, 1x3rd Above
$10.25mil - 4x1st
SEASON 5 LANGUAGE: (2025 off-season and beyond)
Salary offered - Compensation required
$1 - $1.349999mil - 1x4th
$1.35mil - $1.999999mil - 1x3rd
$2mil - $3.999999mil - 1x2nd
$4mil - $5.999999mil - 1x1st, 1x3rd
$6mil - $8.249999mil - 1x1st, 1x2nd, 1x3rd
$8.25mil - $10.249999mil - 2x1st, 1x2nd, 1x3rd Above
$10.25mil - 4x1st
Example: Corey, the Kings GM, is feeling cheeky and wants to make an RFA offer on a Vancouver player. He wants to offer $8.3mil for 3 years. In order to do this, he needs to have an LAK1st, LAK2nd, and LAK3rd in the very next draft, as well as an LAK1st in the draft the very next year afterwards. If he does not have exactly this, then he may not even make an offer.
NOTE: RFA Offer sheets may not include signing bonuses of any type.
NOTE: If he had previously traded these picks away, he may get them back before this time period so he can make his offers.
NOTE: If you acquire a player from another team via the RFA process, this player will be given an NTC until game 41 of the next PFHL season.
