BEFORE WE BEGIN: It will help make sense of this enormous rule if you keep coach rerates in mind. While on your team and under contract, coaches ratings never change. Any time a coach has an observable change in status, they also have their ratings updated to match the SPECIAL ONLINE COACHES LIST. Coach promoted? Ratings adjustment. Coach poached? Ratings adjustment. Coach gets a new contract? You better believe that's a ratings adjustment. Just keep this in mind while reading the coach rules, and it should help out immensely!
ALSO: The unassigned coaches list will no longer have any pull in the PFHL, as it may be outdated. The SPECIAL ONLINE COACHES LIST linked from the PFHL site will be the actual ratings of replacement coaches.
AND NOW.....
All pro and farm teams must have a coach. Coaches can be hired from the SPECIAL ONLINE COACHES LIST, and be offered at least the minimum coach salary.
Each year, Simon T includes a list of coaches in his annual ratings pack. That list will be uploaded and available for the PFHL to use at some point between the game 1 and game 41 mark in the season immediately following it's release. It will be called the SPECIAL ONLINE COACHES LIST. The list will be posted and linked from the PFHL website, and the coaches contained on it(if not already under pro contract to another team), after it's posting, will be available to any team that wishes to sign them.
SIGNING A NEW COACH:
You may sign a new coach at any time during the playing season or off-season, provided the forum is open for it. There will be a time during the offseason where you will not have to fire a coach while retaining the services of a new one.
To sign a coach, you must post their name in the "COACH FREE-AGENCY" portion of the forum, and offer a contract that meets the PFHL minimum coaching contract amount. If hired mid-season, the remainder of that season will count as a "1" on their term.
After posting the coach, there will be a 48 hour window where other teams may offer more money to the coach to come to their clubs. The coach will sign with whatever team has offered the highest TCV(total contract value) after 48 hours without a bid happening. NO SIGNING BONUSES.
Pro coaches in the PFHL have a minimum salary of $1mil/year.
Farm coaches in the PFHl will have a minimum salary of $250k/year.
Coach MAXIMUM contract term is 4 years.
These coaches will also be available to be signed in the same manner in the off-season, where some teams with expiring coach contracts may prefer to sign a new coach while avoiding buyouts.
NOTE: BY SIGNING A COACH MID-SEASON, YOU ARE ALSO AGREEING TO FIRE AND BUYOUT YOUR CURRENT COACH ONCE THE AUCTION PERIOD HAS ENDED, SHOULD YOU WIN THE AUCTION. $$$$$$$$$$$.
NOTE: YOU MUST CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE COACH THAT YOU ARE AFTER IS NOT THE CURRENT PROPERTY OF A PFHL PRO TEAM ALREADY!!!
PROMOTING YOUR FARM COACH TO THE PROS:
If you move your farm coach into the pro coach role, then said coach will have his salary adjusted upwards to $1mil if required. When promoting a coach from the farm to the pro's, they will be rerated to match the SPECIAL ONLINE COACHES LIST ratings.
NOTE: You may NOT move your pro coach down to the farm. If you wanted him to be on your farm, you would first have to buy out his contract, and then attempt to hire him back as if he was a new coach.
COACH CONTRACT EXPIRES:
When a coach's contract expires, his coach ratings are updated to match the SPECIAL ONLINE COACHES LIST. If a team desires to keep the coach in their position, they are treated similar to an RFA at qualification time. The team that owns the coach will submit his name during the “coach resigning window” to keep his rights. The coach will be able to be given offer sheets of new contracts from the other GM's in the league. The coach's current GM may match the offer(and choose the term), or decline and allow the coach to leave.
If the offer is declined, the team that made the winning offer will compensate the other team with the equivalent of 1 years salary of the coach's new contract.
Coaches may not receive signing bonuses.
If a coaches contract expires and the team does not wish to keep them, they simply do not ask to keep his rights during the “coach resigning window”.
NOTE: You may not have MORE than 2 coaches in your system for any longer than it takes to release your 3rd coach.
HIRING SOMEONE ELSE'S FARM COACH TO YOUR PRO TEAM(POACH A COACH):
At any time between the beginning of the off-season, and the beginning of the trade deadline, a PRO club may "poach" a coach from another organization's FARM club. If they choose to do this, they will compensate the coach's former team with a single 2nd round draft pick(or later rounds if the compensated team chooses) from one of the next 2 drafts, or $5 million dollars. The compensation will be chosen by the coach's former team.
In the event of multiple 2nd round picks being available, the team being compensated has the right to choose whichever applicable pick they desire.
A team without the required picks and/or cash may poach eggs, but not a coach.
The poaching team only needs one of the required compensation items to poach a coach.
IMPORTANT: Coaches have their ratings updates to match the SPECIAL ONLINE COACHES LIST immediately following being poached. Keep this in mind when stealing from your colleagues.
RELIEVING YOUR CONTRACTED COACH:
If you fire your coach, you will pay out the remainder of his contract in cash, from your bank account. ALL of it.
