Seattle GM Josh Rose, in an attempt to keep one of his most important players on the Kraken, Ivan Provorov, showed up to Ivan Provorov's Seattle penthouse unannounced last evening. With him was a box of cigars, a bottle of vodka, and a chess board that was constructed from the bones of Siberian Tigers that had been killed by hand. Knowing Provorov was a fan of the game, he offered a match. Simple match.... If Ivan wins, he gets the Vodka, the cigars, and the very valuable chess board. If GM Rose wins, They drink and smoke together after the game, and Ivan agrees to reconsider going to free agency.
Rose played black, and after throwing down a mean Sicilian defense, managed to eek out a surprise checkmate in the midgame. After much smoke and drink, Ivan offered the following contract to Josh: $6,050,000/yr. 1 year. Signing Bonus of $605,000.
