19 - TRADING/CAPHIT player
Teams may trade players that do not have an NTC, draft picks up to 3 drafts out, money, or prospects.
IMPORTANT: When trading players with 2 or 1 years left on their current contract, teams may retain up to 50% of the players remaining total salary. The salary that is retained will stay with the club until the original contract would have expired, regardless of player buyouts/deaths.
There will be no limit to the number of salary retentions a team can have.
Players can NEVER have their salary go lower than the league minimum salary.
To make a trade, please post your trade in the forum in the appropriate section. Make sure you include the teams, and all pieces of the trade.
Ex:
To LAK: Bobby Ryan, $150k
To VAN: Mike Smith ($1mil retained for 2 years), Michael Teply(p), 2022 LAK 2nd
(If the trade is hard to read or doesn’t make sense, it will not be actioned).
Please also type out a short sentence or 3 about why you are making the trade.
Once posted, have the other party that you are trading with respond and post the trade as well, with their reasoning for making the move.
If approved, the trades will be actioned FOLLOWING the very next simulation. If rejected, they will be moved into the appropriate section in the forum, with the reasoning, and you may start the process again at your own discretion.
CAPHIT player
All teams will have an untradable, GOD-AWFUL player named something like "LAK CAPHIT". CAPHIT will have a contract that reflects how much salary retention your team currently has. These are not real players, and they are not to be used in game play. The purpose they serve is to track the amount of salary retainment that your team currently has in each of the next 2 seasons.
If the Kings trade Michael Jordan to the Flyers, and retain $3mil of his salary for just the last year of his contract, then "LAK CAPHIT" will have $3mil added to his "Salary #1" on the proteamplayersinfo, which is reflective of the current season. This effectively removes cap space from the Kings throughout the year. When this happens, Michael Jordan's salary is reduced by the same $3mil as soon as he leaves the team, making him a $3mil/year player going forward.
If the same thing happened, but he had 2 years left in his contract, then the $3mil would be added to the "LAK CAPHIT" in "Salary #1", and "Salary #2" (current season, and next season) of the proteamplayersinfo page.
Salary retention will apply to the entire remainder of the player’s contract. You may not trade a player with 2 years left, and only retain on the final year, nor may you only retain on the first of 2 years left.
CAPHIT is not to be played, but, technically, could be played. If it happens by accident, we will have a chat. If he is played intentionally, that chat will not be good. Cheating on your wife is a bad thing, but cheating in the PFHL is unacceptable at the highest level.
