The Nashville Predators announced a new GM this week. After being away from hockey from 10 years, Kyle Bowden has returned to take over a floundering Preds franchise. After being away for so long, one would wonder if the new GM is out of touch or possibly unable to fit into managing a team. Bowden quickly shot down those critics stating the following.
"Listen, at the end of the day, hockey is hockey. We have D.J. with the exes and o's and I am happy with what he does and what he brings to this team. For me, I want to make sure we are the hardest working team in the league and a bitch a to play against. We won't win every game but you damn sure will be in a war when you play the Preds."
With only 1 game this entire week GM Bowden has been busy getting to know the player and staff and also took a trip to Milwaukee to visit Groulx and the Admirals.
"We have a great pipeline built in Milwaukee. You look at Kravtsov, Luderstrom and Formenton and get excited about the future. Tokarski in net providing a veteran presence. Plus, we have a stud in Owen Power in Michigan who is ready for his breakout. We have a good thing going and expect call ups sooner rather than later."
That was quickly reinforced as Casey Mittlestadt was immediately called up later that day.
The Preds new GM has been rather quiet when asked about trades and roster moves.
"We will see. I want to see this team play and assess what I feel we need to do to succeed. We start by building an identity and then see who flourishes and who fails under that system. I could see growth or I could just blow it up...."
The Preds currently sit in last place in the Central and 30th in the league with 15 points through 21 games. They face a healthy test after a break in the Arizona Coyotes who are 8-0-2 in their last 10 games.
We will be sitting down next week for a GM profile with Mr. Bowden where we will ask him some tough questions and see what makes him tick. We will also have a special report on the Milwaukee Admirals so stay tuned for that Preds fans.
