Soon after being named the new GM of the New Jersey Devils, Kam Seguin was gracious enough to sit down with Devils play-by-play legend Steve Cangialosi, where they discussed anything and everything Devils.
Below is a transcript of a portion of their conversation that aired exclusively on MSG last night. The full interview will also be re-broadcasted tomorrow night on MSG at 8 p.m.

Cangi: Devils fans, I'm thrilled to be back in the Prudential Center after a few years away. Before we get to business, I'd like to formally announce that I will be back as your play-by-play announcer for the foreseeable future. I look forward to some electric nights at the Rock once again. Ok, that's enough about me. Whether you're a Devils, Isles, or Rags - I mean Rangers - fan, we thank you for tuning in to MSG tonight as we introduce the newest GM of the Devils, Kam Seguin. Kam, thanks so much for joining us.
Seguin: Good to be here with you Cangi. And welcome back.
Cangi: (*Cangi's patented laugh*) Thanks Kam. Now, first of all, tell us a bit about why you took on this job.
Seguin: Simple, really. I want to see the Devils succeed. I grew up a Devils fan. I feel like I have the necessary skillset to turn this team into a perennial winner, and that's what I'm here to do.
Cangi: Is that something you see happening in the near future?
Seguin: That's hard to say. I mean, anytime you inherit a roster with Hellebuyck in net, you're bound to be competitive on the ice. At the same time, though, the goal isn't to be "competitive". We want to be the very best team in the PFHL. And I think that could take some time.
Cangi: Well, you touched on the goalies just now. Walk us through your vision of the blueline.
Seguin: The easy answer here is that it's incomplete, with there only being four defencemen on the pro roster. So, we're going to need some bodies. But the foundation is there for a respectable d-core from day one.
Cangi: And now the forwards?
Seguin: There are some foundational pieces here. Bratt, Schmaltz, Mercer, and Marchessault are all insanely talented. I think my main job is to make sure they're insulated with the talent necessary to maximize their talents. Which I assure you is much easier said than done. It won't be done in one night, I can say that for sure.
