New York Rangers 2024-2025 Season Preview
The Rangers enter the 24/25 PFHL season still stinging from an unceremonious exit from last year’s playoffs. With this new season the team is looking to build on the trade deadline moves and make the playoffs for a 4th consecutive year.
Key Departures
The top of the roster hasn’t seen any key departures which bodes well for the squad. The Rangers have seen a number of journeymen forwards depart including Warren Foegele and Corey Perry. Perry retired amid rumors of unbecoming conduct off the ice. On the defensive side the team sees Matt Dumba and Nikita Zaitsev head to free agency.
Key Additions
There is much excitement regarding the influx of youngsters from the Wolf Pack to the Rangers this year. Into the forward ranks the team welcomes Mason McTavish, Peyton Krebs, and Noah Cates. On defense the team is looking forward to the additions of Thomas Harley and Ronald Attard. All of these promising youngsters will have prominent roles with the team this coming season.
Key Returnees
The most notable returning Ranger is of course Brayden Point. With the drama of a trade request last year smoothed over Point is committed to being at his usual all-star level yet again. He will center the Ranger’s formidable first line along side returnees Joel Farabee and Oliver Wahlstrom.
The other key returnee is none other than Stuart Skinner to the net. The trade deadline acquisition has recharged this offseason and is shaping up to be the top goaltender the Rangers have been looking for.
