Things have been quiet so far this offseason in Boston. After resigning a few farm players, Boston walked away from a big time player in Nazem Kadri. They also walked away from Anthony Mantha, goaltender Linus Ullmark, Curtis Lazar and swing Pro/Farm players Marco Scandella, Tyler Ennis and Pat Maroon. They did manage to resign one star center in Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to a 2 year deal worth 7.45 million per season.
All signs point to slight shift in Boston this year. An injection of youth looks likely with Quenton Byfield being looked at for a roll this year on the top line. And he might not be the only young player thrust into big time Pro minutes. The combination of limited cap space, and excellent farm progression indicate that the quiet from this normally loud, obnoxious and boisterous GM may just stay that way. Davidson did qualify a few RFA players, but the only significant one needing a deal is Erik Brannstrom.
Trading in the PFHL opened with a bang as trade after trade poured in, but NONE of these deals, nor rumours even had anything to do with the Bruins.
Things don't appear to get any more noticeable in Boston with the draft soon upon us as the B's have only their 6th and 7th round pick this year.
What was one of the noisiest teams in the league last offseason may be anything but this time around. Things could change with Free Agency upcoming, but for now there is currently no roar from these mighty Bruins.
