The San Jose Sharks have said goodbye to former GM Doug Wilson amidst winning the lottery in the Draught Dispersal Draft. With rumours that ownership were extremely unhappy with Wilson’s plan heading into the draft they made a hiring that was very outside of the box.
Delivery driver now turned GM, Matthew Rensby-Wills is now at the helm. And he’s not really hiding his game plan.
“Our lord and saviour Connor McJesus is going to change this franchise. Much like my time in the delivery business, my plan is to load the package of success(McJesus) into the back of my unmarked creepy white van(the Sharks) and deliver it to the customer(the fans) on time and with a big smile. Yes I’m going to deliver my package to the fans, and they’re going to love it. We are going to build this team to be a long term contender, through the dispersal draft, trades, free agency, and the entry draft. We aren’t fucking around folks.”
While some fans are creeped out by this message, many are happy and hopeful that the Sharks may actually see some success in the coming years. It won’t be easy but with a player like Connor McDavid leading the way, it makes things a little easier.
