In just a moment we will be playing a clip of an interview we had earlier today with former Team President, but still barely clinging to his other title, Carolina Hurricanes GM Wes Mucyk. A man who is sitting on what must be one of the hottest seats in the sports world.
Now I personally like this guy even less following our talk. I think he is full of excuses, and that just does not cut it for me. It is a results based league, and it's all about the Ws. I believe that the only success this guy could ever have as a GM of a hockey team, at any level, would be that in an EA NHL game, get that hack out of hockey.
Anyway, here is a little clip of the worst GM in sports.
Mucyk "yeah well, believe it or not, I had some options to chose from when I was looking at which team to sign with. I was ready to take on a new challenge, that of a "build for the future" type scenario. Prior to speaking with any of the teams, I researched all of the prospects for that organization.
The Hurricanes had 2 players that really stood out to me. Both Dmen. Alex Nikishin and Scott Morrow. After speaking with Carolina and their mutual want of direction, and along with them having thoese two prospects, it was an easy decision to sign with the Hurricanes.
Knowing these guys would one day be part of our top 4 group, it was just a matter of time. Unfortunately with that, it is worst case scenario for both. Nikishin is still in Russia, and Morrow played out his college time. We hope that both guys, along with Simon Edvinsson and Braden Schneider will all be up with the pro club in 2025-2026 making up our top 4 as we had envisioned our back end early in the PFHL inaugural draft."
He continued on to say a bunch of words, nothing meaningful until this...
Mucyk"we expect to see Logan Cooley fight for a spot at training camp, but it's likely that he will be playing down on the farm for one more season. As far as Dylan Guenther goes, at this time there is no decision made on where he will end up. His skating still needs some work, so he may not be on either our pro or farm clubs next season.
One mistake I did make, was not making the goalie position a core piece, selecting a top young prospect there"
What a putz, Wes "nothing but mistakes" Mucyk, go back to Canada eh.
Well the "Russian Factor" strikes again. Canes fans are really excited about Nikishin, but will he ever suit up for Carolina? and come on, you're going to finish school, just get to the rink and play some hockey. Kids these days, wanting to get an education, having loyalty and wanting to see something through. We are supposed to be in the age of just swipe to the next thing. Get with it Morrow.
There are some positives around the Hurricanes. That Logan Cooley and Dylan Guenther both look good, and the rookie seasons of forwards Alexis LaFreniere and Dylan Cozens. Dman Braden Schneider was having a solid rookie season until a leg injury caused him to miss time.
