To Florida Zach Hyman(2.75 million retained) Jamie Drysdale Dante Fabro
To Ottawa Chris Kreider Adam Fox Jacob Macdonald Ondrej Pavel (p) Jeremy Hanzel (p)
Now this was not something I thought I'd do, in moving Hyman but Jay offered Kreider who wants to resign for 4 years compared to Hyman who will test the market. In the deal I really wanted Fox and his high DF at only 26. I was willing to move Drysdale as I don't think he will get as high a DF as Fox, plus the DI problem wasn't helping in the case of Drysdale. Plus we have a few defenseman on the farm team who will be ready next year to make the pro squad. Macdonald will fill the hole on the 3rd line plus the 2 prospects, one who already made his NHL debut this year and the other is leading the WHL in points for a defenseman. Again this deal keeps Ottawa competitive for years ahead. We wish Jay and Hyman best of luck for the Atlantic division supremacy.

Fox has done really well for me since coming over from Philly, but his RFA status made it risky for me to keep him. Drysdale's lower DF isn't ideal, but he has a rare blend of 80+ CK/PA/SC at only 21 and much more reasonable extension terms. I couldn't sign Kreider without knowing what Fox's deal would end up being, so I opted to move him for an elite forward this year with an eye towards resetting my cap structure slightly in the summer. Upgrading from MacDonald to Fabbro helps me stomach the downgrade in Drysdale's DF, too. Thanks Mike for the smooth talks on such a big deal!
