As I stand in front of the hangar, the frosty chill sends shivers even through this leather bomber jacket. Opening the door and switching on the lights, it finally sinks in. The Jets are mine. Sitting at the flight deck as I write, taking time to look up at all the organizations here in the PFHL, I realize that this is a great honor and a privilege to be granted a franchise such as the Jets. I’m reminded of a time 32 years ago when I looked up at the Winnipeg Area (names were so much better back then), attending my first NHL game. Watching the likes of Phil Housley, Eddie O, and Stephane Beauregard???. They lost to Boston 6-3… but it lit a fire that still burns for hockey today. On the bright side, I got to see Ray Bourque play!
My name is Michael Healy. Some of you may know me though other leagues like the VHL or PHL. I plan to bring the same focus and determination to this role. I am married and a father of 2. Sport is vibrant in our home. Buffalo Bandit season ticket members with Bills, Sabres, and Bisons games attended each year as well. My hockey roots are solid in vintage Pittsburgh. Grew up in the late 80’s and early 90’s so Mario is the MAN! Moving to Buffalo 15 years ago, I have slowly adopted the Sabres for my children’s sake. I look forward to meeting all of you and good luck.
This hangar is in shambles and these Jets may not be the A10s that I want this league fearing, but there is some good. Piece by piece, I will be diligent in my efforts to build a team that competes night after night and will make Winnipeg proud!
