With the new season just getting underway, things have changed in Tampa Bay. It was announced earlier today that the Lightning have hired Colin McBain as their new General Manager. Tampa Bay has started the season 2-1-1, good for 3rd in the Atlantic division. McBain was asked his expectations for this upcoming season.
Q: "Do you see this team playing into contention? Or will we see a rebuild coming?"
McBain: "We're only four games in, I think our best option right now is to wait and see how the season plays out. Lots of work to do, and lots of time to do it."
When asked about his plans for the future, he reiterated the importance of giving the players a chance to prove the team's fate.
McBain: "We have some great players on this team, lots of guys across the board looking to prove that they belong, hungry for playoff action. Right now, it is up to them to show whether or not we will push for contention or work into a long rebuild. Coming in, I wanted to shake up the lineup, and give the guys more of a chance to succeed. I'm excited to see how this goes, and I'm very grateful that Tampa is giving me this opportunity."
