Ducks Season Preview
Depth Players Moved Out
Jake Evans was sold to the Montreal Canadiens, and Farm League playmaker Danny O’Regan was claimed off waivers by the Nashville Predators. Neither player made the opening night roster after their performance in training camp.
Ryan Johansen
Anaheim got their player in free agency. In Johansen, the Ducks get stronger down the middle with a reasonable cap hit. He has shown versatility by playing wing during training camp, flanking Jordan Staal’s line.
Impressive Training Camps
Many of the Duck’s young players have clearly been busy with offseason training. Some notables include Brady Tkachuk, Michael Anderson, and Trent Frederic.
Tkachuk came to camp with an I-hate-to-lose mentality. Duck’s fans should be thrilled with his performance in camp.
Anderson solidified his promotion to the big club right out of the gate. He may garnish 1st pair minutes, reuniting with Theodore in addition to increased responsibilities on the penalty kill and powerplay.
Frederic wasn’t expected to make the opening night roster, let alone solidifying his spot on the 3rd line. This tough, shutdown center may have earned his spot by showing chemistry playing wing on Sam Steel’s line.
