While the Devils had a rough go during the 22-23 season, they are determined to show that was a fluke. Through trades that brought in Mikhail Maltsev and Prospect Luke Tuch but sent out Anton Forsberg. Elevating prospects Ruslan Iskhakov, Ryker Evans, Shakir Mukhamadullin, and Michigan standout, Mackie Samoskevich. Using their seven picks in the draft, highlighted by the #6 overall, David Reinbacher, and lastly, Free Agency, which landing veteran netminder Jaroslav Halak and beefing up the blueline with the ageless Brent Burns.
Clearly the front office sees a very bright future with Schmid, as evident by the departing of Daws and Forsberg. Halak was a great insurance policy. The addition of Burns shores up some defensive softness.
GM Bollentin says he is not done making moves but noted it takes to willing parties with compatible motivations. “Heading into training camp, the kids are eager to show how much they have grown over the last year.” The team has already done several team building trips to cultivate the chemistry.
Let’s get ready to raise some hell!
