like the sands on a Carolina beach, these are the days on the ice. Over the past few days, as players from within the Hurricanes organization have been arriving into town, excitement grows as PFHL training camps have begun.
The league is set to open it's doors on their 3rd season, one in which Hurricanes fans are really excited about.Random fan "Mucyk said that it was a 3-5 yr plan, so I think now it is fair to expect them to continue to improve, which the next step would be to compete for a playoff spot."
Well, that is exactly what the organization seems to have set as it's goal. Key word being compete for a playoff spot. As long as the team is competing for a spot, that will probably be considered a success.
Expected to make the jump to the pro team this upcoming season is Lafrenniere,Cozens and Dman Braden Schneider. It's still early in camp, but so far Andrew Peeke, Brett Connolly and Alex Lyon are stand outs, and seem poised to also make the jump. Lyon could be a solid #3 goalie for the team.
Joining the team through free agency was Tyler Johnson, who is figured to center the teams 3rd line. The only other signing for the pro team was of veteran Sam Gagner. We believe the plan is to have Gagner be the teams 13th forward, filling in for injuries or some spot time on the 4th line.
Rounding out the offseason moves so far, Carolina also brought in, through the trade route, Riley Sheahan and Ben Hutton. Both of which are playing on expiring contracts. Additions for the farm were free agents Nordstrom,Demers and Kaskisuo who all signed contracts with the team.
