A new day begins as the sun rises over the city of Newark. The New Jersey Devils welcome a new GM, Michael Bollentin. The first order of business according to Mr. Bollentin is to figure out what the hell he is doing. The list of tasks is long before the season begins: find a new coach, watch his roster of high potential young get possibly decimated in the dispersal draft, and plan accordingly to seize the opportunity to acquire some top-shelf talent to balance the loss.
As October begins, so does the witching season. Throwing a few logs on the fire to get the cauldron boiling because this GM will need to work some magic to compete in a league of seasoned GMs who are all vying for the cup. Perhaps a deal with the Devils could spark some chemistry between the vets and the rookies. Only ice time will tell.
As we move towards the first pick; the Devils sit in the middle of the pack with the 15th overall pick. Do they build around a solid blueline? Will they pull the tender out of the hat first and build outward? Will they pull a premiere goal-scorer? Or will he simply throw darts at a board and allow the spirits to guide his picks? We will soon find out. One thing is for sure, there will be fun in Jersey!!
