With the new PFHL taking shape owner Montreal Canadians owner Geoff Molson made a bold announcement.
“With the NHL folding and the formation of the new PFHL I like to announce we have brought in a new General Manager to succeed out going GM Marc Bergevin. I liked to introduce Todd Snider! He will answer any questions you have. Yes, the rumours are true Todd does not speak a word of French so please try to formulate your questions into English or wait for his translator to explain the question to him “.
John Lu: “Todd, how do you think the Montreal fans will react to a non-speaking French GM.”
Todd: “John, if we lose, they will hate me ! If we win, they won’t care! I’m pretty sure that’s the same whether I speak French, English or both! The most important thing to Montreal Fans is Championship Banners, and I plan to add several PFHL Championship Banners to the ones we already have hanging here in the Bell Centre!”
Stu Cowan: “Todd, you have the 25th pick in the dispersal draft, who do you see the organization taking? “
Todd: “Well Stu I can tell you this, we have 40 guys earmarked to build a franchise around! Right now, we have picks 25 and 40. So guess we will have two quality guys which we think we can build around. As for who is on that list, well I can’t tell you as it wouldn’t be fair to the process.”
Eric Engels: “Who can we expect to coach the team when its formed?”
Todd: “Eric: we haven’t decided yet on who will coach here in Montreal or our AHL affiliate Laval. I can tell you I have hired the following members in these positions within our club. I liked to bring them out and introduce them too you and they be glad to answer your questions. Assistant GM -Patrick Roy, Head of Pro Scouting-Chris “Knuckles” Nilan, Head of Amateur Scouting – Mike Keane. Please direct your questions to these men. “
With that GM Snider waived goodbye to the large mass of reporters that had gathered and disappeared behind the curtain at the Bell Centre.
