The Arizona Coyotes season came to a conclusion with 6 straight losses. A fitting end to an inconsistent season. They finished in the middle of the division and even game up the most goals against in the division and conference. They were led on offense by the first line, all at a point per game, but aside from one other forward, no forward averaged even a half a point a game. On defense, part of the season saw the team dress 7 defensemen, but even then, only 3 had particularly good seasons. In goal, neither goalie impressed. Both had similar numbers, which were subpar to say the least.
Even so, 1st line center Dylan Larkin was rewarded with a 4 year contract extension, making him the new highest paid player on the team. Yakov Trenin also received a contract extension for a seemingly reasonable amount.
The Tuscon Roadrunners had a slightly more successful season, finishing in the top 10 overall in the minors. Led by scoring from the defense during the regular season, the team lost in the first round of the playoffs, to the eventual champions. It appeared to be good development years for Nolan Patrick and Logan Stanley, both of whom should be promoted to the pro team next season. Both goalies started equal games, and seemed to have decent seasons.
Forward Ryan McGregor was resigned at a relatively minimal cost to continue his development of the farm next season.
With 2 picks in the top 10 of the draft, more young players could be on the way. Also expect to see some new faces on the team next season, as players such as Karel Vejmelka, Mattias Maccelli, Liam O'Brien and JJ Moser, all seem poised to sign contracts. Last years 2nd overall pick Juraj Slavkovsky is also rumoured to be expected to continue his development, joining the team and getting in some action.
