Colorado's second season ended like the first one; dead last!!!
Question marks stayed the same: offense; non existent, defense; Colorado's D department is colder than Siberia at its worst, Goaltending; some hope there, perhaps???
Overall Colorado went into this season with some hope of overall improvement, well more or less everything went pears shaped.
Of course has to take into consideration that Colorado started to sell core players at the end of the season as Zadorov for example.
If season was struggle already before that, it became survivals game after that.
Colorado's HQ has been very quiet since the last quarter of the season, GM Kalmi has been under the radar (most probably in his Finland-based bunker -> article was made few months ago).
And rest of the management has not been responding any of the emails/calls at all.
Fans, does it seems to be a betrayal? Has to be seen...
Only person who decided to put their face at the front of public was President Joe Sakic.
GM Kalmi was seen at apparently few bars in Helsinki in last few days...
He likes his whiskys...
Sakic's message was very short and clear, and here it is:
"I can only feel the pain of our fans as it has been another extremely hard season for us. I, as the front man of the whole Colorado Avalanche team, can only promise that we have been doing huge amount of silent work behind public eyes to make some significant progress in our team for present and coming seasons.
In overall most of our current team has been very positive towards our future plans, the ones who have different opinions will be sold in coming off-season.
Core of the team in future will be build around Stutzle, Knight, Sanderson, Kakko and Bouchard.
That is all what I have to say."
Colorado's farm team is still playing playoffs as we speak.
Otherwise most of the team is enjoying their early summer holidays.
Hopefully next season will bring some positive topics.
