We are going to take a look at some of the players that might be playing for us in the next few seasons. The Kucherov trade continues our trajectory of collecting future players and assets that started at the beginning of the year. I didn't think this team was capable of winning this year and our form in the middle of the season after the hot start we had confirms it.
Lets look at the prospects we have and how they are doing in real life.
CBJ Prospects List
1. Connor McMichael(PFHL AHL)
Connor is having a real good season in the AHL this year. the 21 year old is 10th in the league scoring with 38-44-81 stat line playing without very much help on a very bad Monsters team. He will be in the NHL next year hopefully on the 2nd line.
2. Vasily Podkolzin
After having a real solid pro start in the NHL, he was primed for a decent rerate to enter the PFHL, but we didn't do it. This year he has been brutal and we are hoping he can play more NHL games to get an NHL rating when he gets created.
3. Logan Stankoven
Another monster year in the WHL with Kamloops(40GP-29g-55a-84p) and having a great outing at the WJHC, look for a long playoff and memorial cup run. Undersized at 5ft7, he looks to break into the NHL next year with the other youngings in Dallas.
4. Matthew Savoie
Second in scoring with the Winnipeg Ice(52GP-31g-43a-74p) in his D+1 year. Savoie is also looking for a long playoff and will play Kamloops to see who makes it to the memorial cup. There are some expiring contracts in Buffalo, Matthew could look to take the 3rd line centre spot but will most likely start the year in the AHL to round out his game.
5. Stanislav Svozil
Our first real life CBJ pick. Svozil is having an excellent year feeding pucks to Bedard for Regina Pats(44gp-9-55-64p). Svozil had an outstanding outing at the WJHC as well. There is room on CBJ blueline next year with lots of competition for the spots, he will have to impress in training camp at the start of next year.
6. Jonathan Lekkerimaki
Playing as an 18 year old in Sweden second division for Djurgardens IF(29gp-3g-6a-9p), he is having a bad second year putting up similar numbers he did when he was a 17 year old. He is most likely not playing any meaningful minutes for them though. We look to Vancouver to sign him to a contract so he can start playing in the AHL and play on NA ice.
7. James Malatesta
Longshot to make the NHL, this 5th round pick by CBJ is 4th in scoring with the Remparts(53gp-36g-25a-61p). The scoring is low for top tier prospects playing in the Q and he is a small guy. Signed to his entry level, we will see if he will play AHL next year.
8. Issac Howard
PFHL CBJ pick Howard is our only player in the NCAA and he is having a horrible season for a terrible Duluth(30gp-5g-9a-14p). Tampa Bay is trading away all of there picks to make cup runs in real life so he might make the NHL to fill in spots on a cap strapped team in the next couple years, just hope he gets it together.
9. Amadeus Lombardi
Lombardi is 5th in OHL scoring in his D+2 year for Flint(58gp-38g-42a-80p). 4th round pick to Detroit, maybe there is something in trusting the "Yzer-plan". Another long shot to make the NHL.
This concludes a look into the future CBJ players. Reviewing this list, it looks like a prefer small NHL players with high ceilings. Now the hard decision of figuring out when to create these guys.
Lets see what the trade deadline brings, might have to update this list.
