Well Caneiaces, those trade winds were blowing this past weekend as we saw our team make multiple trades, despite our boys playing fairly decent hockey of late. Earlier today GM and team President Wes Mucyk had these words to say "we wanted to get ahead of the trade deadline, get the returns we wanted. Before the season started we knew that we would be moving those guys by the deadline. We are happy with our returns, but we are not done making moves yet."
We here expect that those moves he is referring to will be Dmen Gostisbehere and newly acquired Demelo. Otherwise probably just some small, minor things.
So in the deals Carolina received futures in the way of picks and prospects, much needed $$$ to go along with some serviceable bodies. To this point Mucyk and the organization have stuck to their original dispersal draft plan. Nobody mentioned in their original plans (statements) have been moved.
Next season I don't see any way in which LaFreniere, Cozens and or Schneider don't play with the big club. Along with those players I can see knocking on that door will also be Andrew Peeke and Dylan Guenther (fingers crossed on a better 2nd half of the NHL season)
We have heard that for the 2nd straight season, the Carolina Hurricanes will be using an OG card on centerman Dylan Cozens. The young man is also rumored to be an option to go for Carolina's "special" offseason training (NHL re-rate) In other news we have heard that the team has started talks with RFA Dman Andrew Peeke.
The Carolina Hurricanes have won 4 straight games, while the Chicago Wolves are riding an 8 game win streak. Carolina will head to Buffalo to play the Sabres which will wrap up a back to back set before taking a break for the All-Star festivities.
