East Allstars Announced by GM Todd Snider – Article by Sean McAndrews
It’s that time of year again, the allstar game is nearly upon us. As always, there will be a fair amount of bitching and complaining about who did not make the team. Looking forward to the debate. Without further adieu, here is the roster.
Starting Lines:
C – Leon Draisaitl (DET): Zee Big German has had a fantastic season registering 30goals and 35 assists for 65 points in 45 games. Detroit is clinging to a playoff spot and will need Leo to continue his allstar pace.
LW - Kirill Kaprizov (FLA): Killer picks up a deserving nod with a 32-32-64 stat line making him the highest scoring true LW in the league.
RW – Nikita Kucherov (CBJ): It’s no surprise that Koochy is having a fantastic season with 31 goals and 32 assists to round out a forward line with two deadly snipers and one of the elite playmakers in the game.
D – Oliver Ekman Larsson (OTT): OEL has had a heck of a season pacing all defenseman with a whopping 61 points in 45 games. He’s also a +30 for one of the best teams in the league for those that care about +/-
D – Zack Werenski (NJD): The Zack Attack is in fine form with 57 points of his own on a bad New Jersey team. Rumors abound that he wants out but it will take a kings ransom for him to get moved.
G – Andrei Vasilevskiy (TBL): Vasi gets a deserving spot as one of the best goalies in the league despite being on one of the worst teams in the league. How he has put up the numbers he has is absolutely astounding.
Left Wingers
Zach Hyman (OTT): The Zach Attack has been a dominant two way forward this season ranking near the top in scoring and CORSI stats (I calculated them – it’s true)
Filip Forsberg (NYI): Friendly Filip Forsberg has been nasty to opposition goalies leading the way on the Island helping the Fishermen to climb to the top of the Metro Division.
Matthew Tkachuk (MTL): despite not landing in the top 15 in any category in the league, Chucky gets a roster spot due to the “one player from each team rule” as he leads Les Habitants with 49 points.
Right Wingers
Steven Stamkos (BUF): Stammer leads the Sabres with 59 points. The veteran’s One-T-Clapper is sure to be on display in the allstar game.
Nikolaj Ehlers (TOR): Nikky Elly with look to celly in the game as Toronto’s lone allstar having 58 points in 46 games.
Joel Farabee (NYR): another beneficiary of the “One must get in” rule Farabee is no wannabee. He’s been the Rangers best player.
Centers
Nico Hischer (WSH): Disher Hischer has a tidy 41 assists in 48 games showing off his playmaking ability.
Tomas Hertl (PHI): Hertz Rent a Car is helping the surging Flyers climb the standings with a 26-32-59 stat line.
Pierre-Luc Dubois (CAR): PLD ranks 13th in hits take. On the team for aforementioned reasons but he has had a solid season at over a PPG.
Defensemen
Charlie McAvoy (BOS): C-Mac is having a banner year with 50 points and is third in the league for shots blocked making him a contender for the Charlie Huddy award. He also likes to hit.
Victor Hedman (PIT): as expected Hedder is one on of the top defenders in the league leading the Pens in scoring with 47 points.
Seth Jones (DET): The Seth-anator jones Zee German on the allstar roster. Zee Swede GM must be happy in MoTown.
Adam Larsson (NYI): A-Lar is a point per game player for the Islanders and plays a physical brand of hockey.
Goalies
Chris Driedger (PHI): Dreeeegs has surged to the top of the stat-lines in SV% and GAA overcoming Vasi in both categories. Why isn’t he starting?
Juuse Saros (FLA): The Juus in Loose, kind of. He leads the league in games played which is cool.
There you have it, the Eastern Allstars. The additional lines will follow and look for one additional player to be named based on fan voting. That never goes wrong, right John Scott?
