Alright Caneiacs, we're just past the halfway point on our teams season, and I know all you storm chasers are tracking our boys year.
If we think back to training camp, GM and team president Wes Mucyk talked about simply showing some improvement in the standings. A hopeful finish around the 20th spot he had said would be considered a success. Now if we take a look at the current standings the team sits in 21st, right around where they'd hoped to be. Those that watched the team last year would be wondering, how the improvement? I mean, on paper the D core looks much better, goaltending improved, the team was supposed to have a decent 2nd line and a good 3rd line. However the player stats are worse then that of last years team.
Tough decisions must now be made. Continue to reach that goal, which really does nothing for the team considering the organization is waiting on it's youth. Or, trade all the pieces that we knew were going to be moved at the end of the season and maybe play for a better pick.
Taking a look back to some news from earlier in the week, Dman Adam Pelech signed a 3 yr deal to stay on with us. He will make $5.76 per season. Expect him to be our top shutdown guy over those years and be a key part of the teams PK.
