After 40 games, we see the Coyotes falling farther out of the playoff picture, dropping to 10 points back of the final division playoff spot, and 15 back of the wildcard. A 2-6-2 record in the past 10 games shows little improvement going on in the desert. The Wild have matched the Coyotes pace, leaving the Yotes still 7 points up on last place.
The past 10 games saw Nazem Kadri pace the way with 11 (5-6) points. Vladimir Tarasenko also had a point per game (4-6). Rumour mill target Marcus Foligno had a good segment with 9 (3-6) points. On defense, Gavrikov and Severson led the way with 7 points each, and Bowen Byram had a steady 6 points as well, but was -11 over the 10 games. James Reimer had a tough time, with 18 goals given up in 3 appearances, compared to the 23 that Holtby gave up over his 8 appearances. Trade target Foligno had a good segment, but Getzlaf and Grimaldi struggled with only a pair of points each. The ice time seemed to have been divvied up slightly differently in the past couple games, with Kadri being sent out with the 3rd and 4th lines, and Lucas Wallmark being a healthy scratch. Both Staal and Borowiecki have been playing with the team deploying 11 forwards and 7 defensemen. The first game with said deployment resulted in a win, but the 2nd was less successful as one of the hottest teams in the league had no trouble containing the new lineup.
Roadrunning : A 7-2-1 record in the past 10 games, see the farm team sitting in the middle of nowhere, not close to a playoff spot. Perhaps if the team can continue this pace, they can close the distance. Nolan Patrick and Logan Stanley continue to lead the way, with Justin Schultz also putting up a point a game. Bokondki Imama is also playing at a near point a game pace, after returning from injury after his demotion to the minors. Matthew Strome, a UFA signee at the start of the season, has been doing a lot with little ice time, standing 3rd among farm forward with 11 goals.
