Well, here we have it. 40 Games played with a record of 20-16-4. Good for 15th in the PFHL standings (Overall). Sitting 3rd in the metropolitan division the flyers are in a playoff spot! We've been playing some good hockey as of late and got to make sure we continue to play our game consistently. We had troubles earlier on in the season where we went 0-6 and that really hurt us. Had we even gone 3-3 we would comfortably be 2nd in the division instead of chasing our rivals the Columbus Blue Jackets. But guess what? Adversity is part of the game.
Over the season the Flyers have made multiple trades. In fact we may just have the most trades made this season (just a guess). We went from a rebuilding team, to what we believe now to a powerhouse all within the season. Acquiring talents such as Aaron Ekblad, Tomas Hertl, Chris Dreidger and so on. The fans were impatient with us and we needed to deliver. So here we have it, a playoff caliber team ready to compete against any team in the league.
There is only 1 goal for the Philadelphia Flyers, and that's to win the cup. Even though we traded a bunch of top notch future talent for the present, we still have some extremely good talent in the system. Simon Nemec, a top 5 pick in the PFHL draft was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche not too long ago. Also we have the like of Kevin Korchinski, Frank Nazar, Fedor Svechkov and a couple 1st rounders in 2023. We've been able to balance the present and the future very nicely. Imagine a top pairing of Korchinski and Nemec? Looks Sexy.
So what do we do now?
Easy; continue winning. The Philadelphia Flyers have been top 10 in the power rankings for a couple of weeks now and we plan to stay there. With Dreidger playing like a Vezina goaltender this season and Quinn Hughes breaking out on defense, the sky is the limit for this Flyers team. Anyways that's all folks!
