We check back in with the Coyotes nearing the end of their 14 game road trip. 10 consecutive road games have seen the Yotes get themselves 6 wins in the last 10. Having opened with 5 wins in the first 6, a bit of a let down saw them lose 3 in a row, before bouncing back with a division win in game 10. This leaves them with 19 points in 20 games, 5 points back of the last playoff spot, but with 2 games in hand.
Offensively, the team has been led by Dylan Larkin's 13 points(7-6-13) up front, putting him in the team lead with 24 points so far. Bowen Byram led the defense with 13 points(5-8-13) in the last 10 games. The lineup has seen a bit of a shakeup recently, with Vladimir Tarasenko being deployed on a 2nd line, in an effort to get more offense from that unit. In goal, not much has changed. Braden Holtby managed a 4-2-0 record, and did lower his GAA to 4.09, but still sports a sub .900 save percentage. James Reimer had a 2-2-0 record, but also sports a .853 save percentage on the season.
Roadrunning : The Tucson team has struggled with 10 straight defeats. Defense remains a problem with a 4.55 GAA, but the offense has dried up managing only 3 goals a game, despite some upgrade being added to the lineup. Justin Schultz was added on defense to add some experience, and Klim Kostin was added up front, to add a linemate for Voyer and Patrick. Logan Patrick continues to lead the way with 27 points in 18 games, missing some time due to a suspension. Neither goalie has grabbed the reins with both goalies above a 4.00GAA.
Rumours: With both goalie prospects struggling, rumours are management is looking through their prospect pool, with Karel Vejmelka's name coming up. An older prospect, he may be given a chance if neither goalie can show enough to earn the backup role next season.
