Abbotsford Canucks' star centre, Eetu Luostarinen, arrived from the Montreal Canadiens along with Jesper Boqvist in exchange for future hall of famer Kris Letang. The 24 year old stands 6'3" tall and is playing as a giant in the middle of the ice. He can also switch to either wing, and he has been the star so far of one of the league's strongest farm teams this early in the season, the Abbotsford Canucks. Through his team leading 398 faceoffs so far, he has managed to win a very healthy 55+% of puck drops. He leads the team with 11 goals and 19 points, he leads all forwards with 38 hits, and sits just 6 hits back from the team leader. Eetu has taken an amazing 68 shots averaging 5.67 shots per game! He sits at +2 against the leagues top lines, and also has a bit of a bad boy streak, grabbing 12 PIMs so far. Eetu also plays the big minutes, averaging 21.76 minutes per game, playing on the first line, the power play, and the penalty kill. Of particular note, 'Big Eets' is currently on an 11 game points streak, and has been one of the 3 stars on 7 occasions so far out of 11 games! Eetu played the pre-season with the pro club, Vancouver, and was one of the bright spots, but management decided that what was best for Eetu, would be one more year of development in Abbotsford. It looks like Big Eets is set on proving to the organization that he is ready to go in a big way. Look for big things from Eetu, as he projects to slot in as the Vancouver's #2 Centre next season if all goes well as planned!
