Colorado Avalanche’s favorite Finnish journalist Jouni Nieminen is back in Denver to interview GM Jussi Kalmi.
Few fans outside of the HQ were bit offensive to Jouni as he did not agree with their statement of earth to be flat.
Jouni: “What a bunch of idiots! And States seems to have quite few of them… With those kind of people Trump could be re-elected and Ukraine will be given to Russia, God help us all.”
Either way back to main thing Hockey.
Jouni: “Well, it has not been the easiest start of the season, how would you summarize it?”
Jussi: “Jouni, yep, you are totally right. We knew it would be very hard, but to be honest we must improve. I’m not blaming the coaching and players. Me and the rest of the management are to be blamed for this.”
Jouni: “So, are you trying to improve your team with an aggressive approach?”
Jussi: “There are two ways do things from our point of view. Number one, use our few almost Pro ready assets on trades, and improve our current Pro team. Number two, be patient and see if there will be some good trade opportunities in the near future without sacrificing our important assets. We will go with option 2.”
Jussi: “We took this path last season and together go through this very hard patch. Our players have been very positive even though the overall situation is very difficult indeed. Me and the rest of the management can only thank them so much.”
Jouni: “I’m sorry, but have to ask. How is the overall moral in the team?”
Jussi: “What we know, in overall it seems to be pretty good. We have stated that every single player can come to talk with me on 1-2-1 bases and express their opinions and worries freely. I have had a few chats, but not naming any players and what we talked about. In a nutshell, if someone wants to go, fine with us. But understandable on our terms. And no hard feelings at all.”
Jouni: “There has been circulating rumors that most of Colorado players are for sale and mostly for futures. What is your comment on that?”
Jussi: “Oh bloody hell (bursting on laughter). This is bit like reading Daily Mail’s news section, full of crap. I will state here few things now once and for all. First, we are not eager to sell our best players, but if offer is good, we can talk. Second, if we were to sell one player, we are not really interested in only futures. So, we would only be interested if the offer includes a player or players which could help us in a year or two. And no multiple bottom liners for good player. Also, if we were to take cap back, every million would cost a lot. So, no freebies from here.”
Jouni: “Again your stance against offer sheets have come up. Nothing changed?”
Jussi: “Oh, bollocks, do I still have to answer this same question!? Seriously, everyone knows what I think about it. So, no comment at all. And don’t ask me this question again please.”
Jouni: “As a last question, do you believe earth is flat?”
Jussi: “I believe earth is flat as much as I believe Trump and Putin should walk free.”
