Hello hockey fans, it's that time of year again. The excitement is high as the PFHL superstars lace up their skates and hit the ice for another season of tremendous hockey action.
My fellow Caneiacs, I know we are all excited to see our team in season 3, but this upcoming season is still a very important year for our boys. Their continued development will be the key to any future success our guys have. I know we will all be watching our farm team, but our big club should be better this season after the team made several offseason moves. Maybe they could even find themselves in and around those teams challenging for a playoff spot.
Up front, this season they will be more than just 1 line and a bunch of 4th line guys playing up in the lineup where they shouldn't be. They have an ok 2nd line, and a solid 3rd line. Their 4th line even looks like a pro shutdown line. Maybe not 1 that you would find on a good team, but better then what went over the boards for this team last season.
On the backend things on paper look better. Last season our top guy back there was a 4th Dman who could play on the PK. There still is no true #1 guy back there. Still this year's defence should be a better version then last years, especially with the bottom pair not being that of one which should be playing on a farms bottom 4.
This organization needs to not lose focus and continue it's development of their young guys. Every year we hope to see this team improve. The core future pieces are on their way. Fans hope to see the top line have another great season and Captain PLD take another step to becoming a top 1st line center in the league. With eyes still set on the future for this organization, this upcoming season will still be fun to watch
