The Carolina Hurricanes were drafted with a plan that was looking towards the future. Then a few weeks into this offseason, Carolina head coach Paul Maurice was informed that the plan has been accelerated. 5 of their guys from the farm would be making the jump to play for Maurice and the Canes. Alexis Lafreniere, the organizations 2nd selection in the PFHLs dispersal draft, and a guy that many see as a key piece to the organizations future was one of those 5.
With that info, Paul Maurice began to glow. GM Wes Mucyk told him that he would begin work right away on bringing in pieces to help the youngsters develop, get the best possible chance at hitting their potentials ceiling. That of course would also mean help the team win. The coach was heard walking around, singing "sweet Carolina, ba ba ba"
Then, just a few days ago Carolina head coach Paul Maurice was informed that the organization's plans were reverted back to its original timeline, and possible future star player Lafreniere would be going back down to the farm for another year of seasoning.
"Well I am sorry Paul, but it's what is best for the organization. You'll just have to erase him from your plans." said GM Wes Mucyk Head coach Paul Maurice was furious as he slammed his hand down on the table " I wrote it down in pen!" yelled the Hurricanes bench boss. That little interaction was caught on film earlier today by a Storm Surge Scrum Lurker.
The Carolina Hurricanes have publically already made it clear that fans will not be seeing several of the organizations top prospects this upcoming season. Simon Edvinsson, Dylan Guenther, Scott Morrow, any of the names that fans get excited about will be at least 1 more season away from joining the Wolves or Hurricanes. A storm is brewing that will one day blow through the PFHL causing great damage and destruction, but until then, expect some light winds, maybe get some spitting rain, oh a couple pieces of hail might take out an eye.
