Las Vegas, NV - Who could have ever thought the 1st RFA period of the PFHL would be so eventful? After a back and forth between division rivals, we have our first high profile player moving on to their new team after an offer sheet was not matched. Kirby Dach gets a new 4-year contract worth 5.9 million dollars per year after GM Tom Jervis decided not to match the offer sheet submitted by the Seattle Kraken. It was a stunning move, not only because the 21-year-old Kirby Dach seemingly was a core part of the Golden Knights team going forward, but also because he was let go to a division rival. "Initially, the consensus was to match the offer. However, after some consulting and further thought went into the decision, ultimately, we felt the best course of action was to take the 9th overall pick and let Kirby go" said Vegas GM Tom Jervis during the press conference. "Of course, we are taking a not-so-small risk here...Kirby could develop in to the top center he was billed as when he was drafted 3rd overall. And the 9th overall pick is an unknown. We don't know who's going to be available. But I trust Golden Knights drafting and scouting and believe we will get someone who will help this team immensely in the future. We have some young guys coming up too...guys like Matt Boldy & Philip Tomasino and we know we'll need that money later on." It's will certainly be a moment in time which will be looked back on for years to come. And it won't be hard to measure who came out on top. Just look at the Pacific standings.
