Long and arduous season has reached its end finally in Colorado.
Season which started with positive and optimistic views, and even playoffs spot was on initial plan.
More or less everything went downhill very quickly….
GM Jussi Kalmi has not been seen since middle of March. He is not most welcomed person in Denver at the moment. Photo above was one of the angry Avalanche fans, who tried to get physical with GM Kalmi and give him some “home truths”. Rumor says Lundek is not welcome as well. Majority of fans believe Lundek is pulling the strings behind the screens…
We managed to talk with Kari Takko (GM Kalmi’s trusted right hand man).
Kari Takko : “Well, season has been disappointing to say the least. We totally understand fans’ anger. But we can ensure that we are doing utmost everything to give this team a bright future. We have traded some excellent players away, but we feel we have received some superb pieces for future. Our plan is to get into playoffs after two seasons. Till then we try to improve team in every possible way. We have some major deals agreed for off-season, so you all will see…”
Kari Takko : “I have following statement from GM Kalmi. He is living in a bunker at secret location in Finland. His summer cottage got burned down while ago and he thought going “underground” (literally) is the best option.”
GM Kalmi’s statement : “I felt for my own safety would be better go underground for little while. My summer cottage got burned down by angry Finnish Avalanche fans. Apparently, they wanted to crucify me!!! Well, we won’t be kicked out of Avalanche. We are building bright future for them. That I can guarantee you all. This season was hard for all of us, most probably next season will be as well. But after that all management and coaching team believes team is ready for playoff spot fight. I will be in Denver some point in off-season. Meeting some of the players and fans as well. And hopefully with positive talks we can together build a bright future for Avalanche. Good summer to everyone! Enjoy it and remember to drink a lot of beer”
