Unhappy with the performance with Philp Grubauer, GM Edwards decided it was time to move on. Reaching out to several teams it was with the Vancouver Canucks that a deal was struck. Sabres sent Grubauer, Johanssen and a 2022 4th to Vancouver, in return the Sabres get younger adding Calvin Peterson and Jake DeBrusk. Peterson is 7 years younger than Grubauer with some room to grow. DeBrusk went straight to the 1st line and the 25yr old is making the most of his time with Stammer and Ovie posting 18 points and 11 goals in 14 games. Edwards is very pleased with both acquisitions.
At the trade deadline Sabres made several offers being in the buyer role, but only one deal was actually executed, St. Louis Blues swapped Vince Dunn for a 2022 1st round pick. Management feels the win window is currently open and Dunn will slot in to keep the blueline strong for years to come. There was another deal that didn't make the deadline and as a result Nicolas Hague had to go to the Americans because of cap violation. Hague is one the Sabres stronger defensemen and will most definitely make it back to the pros for the playoffs.
Buffalo are looking good to make the playoffs but home ice is still up for grabs and a strong push at the end could secure a 1st round home ice advantage.

Good article, I've never seen a goalie carousel like we had this year.
