All GMs have different strategies. Teams taking different avenues. Some teams are going young and looking to build in to a strong future team.
Some teams are going the balanced route. And then there are teams that have a clear picture with fire in there eyes clearly trying to build the next Stanley Cup Dynasty.
Teams such as San Jose Sharks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens an Winnipeg Jets clearly could be Stanley Cup contenders.
After 12 rounds the Columbus Blue Jackets feel they may have the pieces to say hold up you want to win the Cup? you have to get past us first.
A look at the Columbus Blue Jackets so far
1.Nikita Kucherov
Born Jun 17 1993 Maykop, Russia
[28 yrs. ago]
Height 5.11 -- Weight 183
A fast paced playmaker with a ton of sight and can put the puck in the net. A power play animal and can also play on the penalty kill. He can be a nightmare for opposing teams and is definitely someone to keep an eye for the Art Ross race.
2.Brad Marchand
Born May 11 1988 -- Halifax, NS
[33 yrs. ago]
Height 5.09 -- Weight 181
A pest also known as "the rat" for many reasons just look at his face. And his crazy antics and dirty play style to get under people skin and get them off their game. Despite the fact he is the most hated player in the PFHL he is also a highly skilled dominant force for the powerplay and also a penalty kill specialist.
With Marchand and Kucherov on the same line that could be alot of fun to watch for Blue Jackets fans.
3.Semyon Varlamov
Born Apr 27 1988 -- Samara, Russia
[33 yrs. ago]
Height 6.02 -- Weight 210
One of the best best goalies in the League
4.Mario Ferraro
Born Sep 17 1998 -- Toronto, ONT
[23 yrs. ago]
Height 5.11 -- Weight 185
This kid can play both ends of the and is not afraid to put his body on the line. He will be a stud defenseman in the near future (Seth Jones style dman)
5.Richard Rakell
A talented fast paced playmaker. Very good on break away situations penalty shot or shootout situations. Another power play specialist. Could play either 1st or 2nd minutes
6.Christopher Tanev
Born Dec 20 1989 -- Toronto, ONT
[31 yrs. ago]
Height 6.02 -- Weight 197
This guy is one of the best defensive defensemen in the league. He knows where to be at all times. He'll block shots and stear opponents away from the puck or play. Amazing coverage. Can play on the power play but definitely one of the best penalty killers in the league.
7.Zdeno Chara
Born Mar 18 1977 Trencin, Slovakia
[44 yrs. ago]
Height 6.09 -- Weight 250
Even at 44 years old this guy is still a dominant beast of a man. A leader of men. He speaks you listen whether you are a teammate or opponent. He can intimidate anyone on the ice with his size and strength. He's not fast but his hockey smarts, power and over all skills even at his age makes him one of hardest defensemen to play against. Plus he's really cheap. Great to have on your side.
8.Anthony Stolarz
Born Jan 20 1994 Edison, NJ
[27 yrs. ago]
Height 6.05 -- Weight 230
Could be a starter on most teams. With Varlamov and Stolarz this could be one of the best goalie tandems in the PFHL.
9.Gustav Nyquist
Born Sep 1 1989 Halmstad, Sweden
[32 yrs. ago]
Height 5.11 -- Weight 176
Very similar to Rickard Rakell style forward can play any forward position. A really good playmaker and can play the penalty play game. Nyquist can play 1st or 2nd line minutes
10.Nick Jensen
Born Sep 21 1990 Rogers, MN
[31 yrs. ago]
Height 6.01 -- Weight 205
Another talented defensive Defenseman. With alot of strength
11.Jason Spezza
Born Jun 13 1983 -- Toronto, ONT
[38 yrs. ago]
Height 6.03 -- Weight 219
Jason Spezza is an iron man very hard working and smart. One of the best breakaway, penalty shot or shootout shooters in the league. One of the most experienced players in the league. A guy to learn from. He will produce even on the bottom 6 lineup.
12.Connor McMichael
Born Jan 15 2001 -- Ajax, ONT
[20 yrs. ago]
Height 6.00 -- Weight 180
He anticipates the play at an elite level, which allows him to get himself into scoring positions before defenders can react. The 2019 first-round pick plays a solid defensive game as well. His active stick allows him to break up plays in the neutral zone, and he reads the game well while in the defensive zone.
