"Stinky" Pete Arbuckle here, your number one source to get all the dirt on your PFHL Washington Capitals. It's been 9 days since the Washington Captials quietly supplanted Joe Larson as the GM and brought in Jay Williams. Mr. Williams has been quite hard to get a hold of during his first week helming the PFHL Capitals, however; he finally said he had some time to answer some questions.
SPA: So Jay, welcome to the PFHL. If I am being honest, I didn't see a GM change coming to the Capitals but here we are.
J: Thanks Pete, I honestly was surprised when I asked about being considered for a possible position in the league that I was told they had the perfect opportunity for me. I was definitely thinking I would find a spot down the road, not right away so I am very excited and happy for the opportunity.
SPA: Well, why don't you tell us a little about yourself before we get down to the real questions.
J: Well I am 43 years old from Northern Ontario, Canada and a huge fan of the NHL Carolina Hurricanes. I don't pay too much attention to any other sports as my passion lies in hockey. I am happily married and father to four boys. I have approximately 25 years in sim experience and I am really excited for my oppportunity here with a really young Washington Capitals team.
SPA: Sounds good. Now we see you already made your first move as GM by shipping out PK Subban to the Panthers. Tell us about that.
J: Sure, well you know that contract of his was one we really wanted to move out to make room to make any changes we thought we necessary to the team. If the term wasn't so long, it may not have been an issue but we feel that moving a first for Florida to take on that contract for us was a necessary pill for us to follow. Also in that deal we swapped prospects by sending Defenseman Luke Hughes in exchange for forward Seth Jarvis. I felt that was something we needed to do with how many young defensemen we already had in the system.
SPA: Ok, if I can ask, whats next for moves, do you have anything in mind?
J: Well I would like to add a little more veteran leadership into the fold as we have a good amount of young guys on the pro team so if we do anything, it may include moves that send some of the youth out for some older more experienced players.
Jay Williams was called away from our interview after that question for an important phone call so any more questions for him will be saved for another time. In the 9 days GM Williams has taken the reigns in Washington, the Capitals have gone 1-3 and currently sit 2 points out of a wild card spot with a little under half the season to go. Will there be more moves to come? Will the Capitals make the playoffs in the first year of the PFHL, time will tell.
Until next time my friends, this is Stinky Pete Arbuckle reporting all the dirt on your Washington Capitals
