(so I actually put together multiple ranking pages, full, by position, prospect + position, then other crap. I had a small notepad with pages for plans A-D. The 1 single player I did not look at his stats prior to ranking/marking his name down, LaFreniere. After I had made that pick and looked him up...well onto plan E, making all my hours of ranking work a waste of time as I would see that what would be best for him is a season on the farm)
We catch the Gm and team President of the Carolina Hurricanes Wes Mucyk already into his press conference..... "well we so far have our top line for our pro squad, with our top 2 on the farm to go along with a guy who we see as our franchise Dman. We were very happy to land PLD as our 1st selection (had a huge list for 2nd options at center, or a season 1-2 center before PLD took on the #1 role) in the PFHL dispersal draft. Our list was short for who we viewed to be our long term #1 guy (PLD was actually the last name, then it was Byfield or Dach on plan B. Other ongoing changes would've sent Plans C, which was with PLD or D with Dach or Byfield into action) His size, skill, work ethic and leadership ability were a package in that #1 center role that we were looking for. Dubois is still at an age where he has plenty of time to develop and we will certainly be giving him every opportunity over these next couple of seasons to do so."
"The Core Of The Storm"TM looks strong as the team has got the big duo down the middle of PLD and Cozens with LaFreniere and Guenther on their flanks to go along with their future franchise #1 Dman Evinsson.
Earlier in Mucyk's presser he told the media crowd some of the names of the newest members to join the franchise. His assistant GM was revealed to be "killer" Dougie Gilmour to be joining the front office. Then "The Russian Rocket" Pavel Bure was named to be the teams skills coach. Bure and Ms.Beckinsale will be sure to show the boys a thing or 2. Kate is known to dress up in some of her previous movie costumes for team motivation, and sometimes a fitness demonstration.
The Canes GM has made it clear that the team will have as much a focus on drafting and developing as it does on the pro side of things. Players will develop, come and go, but the core will hopefully be here for a long time.
