Minnesota feels they have enough high end youth in the system to be able to afford to pull this off, and in doing so, were able to match the high cost to make a significant upgrade to our top 6. As a bottom 5 team in the league in goals for, despite being 9th overall, we felt our team needed an injection of another elite offensive weapon to hopefully propel us further. We had no intentions of making a deal like this prior to this season, but after our recent 10-2-1 run in last 13 games, we felt we could skip a few chapters by contending not only in future upcoming seasons, but also right now.
