With the NHL officially dissolved and the news of the formation of the PFHL, Vice President & General Manager Rob Blake has resigned his position as GM of the Los Angeles Kings. In a written statement sent to the AP, Rob Blake simply stated:
“To be a part of building something, only have it torn down in a split second, is unconscionable. I’m just done with all of this. Good luck!”
Team President, Luc Robitaille, scrolled through his rolodex, making numerous calls, trying to find a replacement. But none of the General Managers he contacted had any experience with both managing a team and a being in a dispersal draft. So, he proceeded to scour the Internet for possibilities, after figuring out how to change his default search engine from Bing to Google.
Luc explained at a press conference, “In selecting a new General Manager, we wanted to find someone with experience with Dispersal Drafts, in addition to managing a team, and it’s finances. That ruled out a lot of the high-profile candidates that you would normally expect to hear about.
Instead, we came across Corey Chernuka, who had experience in something called Beard Hockey. I’m not sure exactly what that is, maybe only players with beards are allowed to play? They also give away some kind of wrestling belt for the champion. It's confusing, is it wrestling or hockey? But we checked and they had a Dispersal Draft, and his team finished top 4 in the playoffs, so we called him up. Granted, he wasn’t our first choice for the position, but when the #1 team in Beard turns you down, and then the #2 team in Beard turns you down, you eventually get to #4. We talked with him, and he seemed to be analytical enough to take on the role. Corey had a solid communications background, which showed when he appeared a few times on a podcast entitled Beard and Booze, so we hired him. We definitely approve of drinking on the job, as long as you show results. We also noticed its called the Dispersal Draught, so drinking will definitely be involved in the draft.”
The Dispersal Draught order will be announced shortly, and Los Angeles Kings fans will soon see who will be selected to their new team.
More to come soon!
